FESTA NO TEJO

Depois de dias de animação permanente no cais da Rocha e na doca de Alcântara, ontem de manhã, 23 de Julho, os veleiros começaram a largar, despedindo-se de Lisboa com uma imponente revista naval, que foi um espectáculo grandioso, o rio totalmente coberto de velas e navios, e as margens a abarrotar de espectadores.

Para além de muitas dezenas de veleiros estrangeiros, incluindo alguns dos mais belos navios-escolas do mundo, como o italiano AMERIGO VESPUCCI ou o espanhol JUAN SEBASTIAN DE ELCANO, destaque para uma presença muito digna de veleiros portugueses, com a Marinha de Guerra a apresentar os seus navios mais emblemáticos, como a SAGRES e o CREOULA, e ainda o POLAR e o VEGA, e a Aporvela com a caravela VERA CRUZ.
O tempo não podia ter estado melhor e a quantidade e variedade de navios e embarcações encantou toda a gente e recordou-nos uma vez mais, que Lisboa é uma cidade atllântica privilegiada, com um porto excepcional, que mostra toda a sua grandeza quando se enche de navios, velas, gente e esperança de mais mar.

TALL SHIPS FESTIVAL IN LISBON
Following a very colourful and active stay in the Alcantara dock and Rocha pier, the Tall Ships fleet left Lisbon yesterday, 23rd July after a spectacular parade of sail with all participating ships and a huge number of local craft sailing past the Belém Tower on their way to the Atlantic and Cadiz.
An enthusiastic croud lined the river banks observing the countless number of foreign ships, including some of the most beautiful sail training ships, like the Italian AMERIGO VESPUCCI or the Spanish Navy's JUAN SEBASTIAN DE ELCANO. Portugal was very much in evidence with the Navy's SAGRES leading the parade that included several other Portuguese Navy sailing ships - the CREOULA, the POLAR and the VEGA, while Aporvela proudly displayed their caravel VERA CRUZ. The weather could not have been better providing the very best of maritime Lisbon as an Atlantic city and as a fantastic scenic harbour full of ships and sails.
